Relpax also known as Eletriptan is a drug that is taken orally as a way of treating migraine pains. It can also be used to treat nausea and sensitivity to light. It is classified under the triptan drugs.

The abnormal functions in the brain are the one that are known to cause migraine headaches. These activities lead to dilation of veins on the brain and around the brain. This dilation can lead to inflammation. The triptan drugs can constrict blood vessels hence will bur migraine headaches. However, of great importance to note is that this drug only relieves migraine. It cannot regulate number of attacks.

Dosage

It is recommendable that Relpax is taken when migraine pain is fast felt. The right dose for adults is 20 gm i.e. one tablet. If the pain persists even after 2 hours, take the second tablet to suppress the pain. However, it is not good to take more than two tablets per day.

Side effects

Relpax is a drug that has side effects. It includes nausea, tiredness, and tightness of chest, throat pains, weakness and dizziness. If you are allergic, do not take this drug. It is good to tell your doctor about other medication you are taking currently. This is meant to avoid reaction of drugs. In rare cases, Relpax can have serious side effects that include heart attack. If you react, stop using this drug and immediately consult your doctor.
