What are the uses of Proviron?
Proviron stabilizes the deficiency in the formation of the androgen (sex hormone) formation in males that occurs as they advance in age. The drug is used in treating a condition known as hypogonadism. In doing this, it replaces testosterone (a natural hormone in the body) when insufficient amounts are produced in the body.
Testosterone refers to a natural hormone called androgen and responsible for controlling the development (sexual) in men. It is known to be essential for maintenance and development of the reproductive organs of men and other characteristics in men such as hair growth, increased strength of the muscles and deep voice.
Proviron is a prescription drug and is not habit forming. Its use is restricted to only male patients.
Prior to using Proviron
Before one starts taking Proviron, he will undergo examination of his prostate. In addition, the medical practitioner will also conduct other tests such as blood tests and also note the medical history of the family.
Inform the physician if you:

How Proviron should be taken
The dose to take
Your pharmacist or doctor will advise you on the dose and the frequency of taking Proviron. In order to work effectively, Proviron should be taken according to the doctor’s prescriptions. At no time should the dose be exceeded beyond the amount recommended by the doctor.
The whole tablet should be swallowed with a glassful of fluids such as water. The tablets should never be chewed.
When should Proviron be taken?
Normally, the initial treatment is composed of one to two tablets taken thrice a day. This dose may be lowered after a number of months.
If you skip a dose
If you skip a dose, take it soonest possible then resume the normal consumption procedure. However, if the time for the next dose is close, skip the missed dose and continue with the normal way of taking the medicine. At no time should you take double dosage to compensate for the missed dose. In case you aren’t sure about what you should do, consult your pharmacist or doctor. In case you cannot remember when you should take the medication, ask the pharmacist to give you some hints.
In case of overdose (taking too much)
Call the Poisons Information Center immediately or your physician immediately. You could go to Accident and Emergency Department in the nearest hospital in case you suspect you or any other individual has overdosed on Proviron. This is even in times when there is no indication of poisoning or discomfort. Emergency medical attention may be needed.
When using Proviron
The medical practitioner will examine the prostate frequently. In rare occasions, non-cancerous tumors are observed after using hormonal substances like those ones that Proviron contains. Even rarer is the occurrence of cancerous tumors of the liver leading to isolated of life-threatening bleeding in the body. In this case, inform the medical practitioner if you experience abnormal abdominal complaints that do not go away after a short period of time.

The side effects that may occur are not limited to the ones listed above. Inform the doctor in case you experience any abnormal feelings. Not that you do not have to experience any of the listed side effects and therefore there is no cause of alarm.
Storage
The tablets should be stores in their original packaging up to the time of taking them. If the tablets are taken out of their blister pack or bottle, you may misplace them.
Store the tablets in a cool, clean and dry place with temperatures below 30oC. Never leave them in your car during hot days.
Keep the tablets away from the reach of children.
Disposal
In case the medical practitioner advises you to discontinue taking the medication or they have expired, enquire on what you should do with the ones left over.
