Mesulid

nimesulide

For the people that suffer from any of the listed medical conditions, Mesulid should only be used for treatment in the short term. The conditions are: acute pain, painful osteoarthritis, post- operative dental pain and inflammation, symptomatic osteoarthritis, primary dysmenorrheal and painful medical disorders that are extra- articular.

Nimesulide is a COX- 2 inhibitor that has different effects on metalloprotease (MMPs) and additional biochemical elements that mark joint destruction. It is also used to reduce the release of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and poisonous substances from the neutrophils and reducing the supply of proinflammatory cytokines.

Nimesulide is a preferred therapeutic choice in treating acute pain because of its unique characteristics. Nimesulide functions by targeting key inflammatory process mediators such as free radicals, prostaglandins mediated by COX- 2, histamine and proteolytic enzymes.

Mesulid is an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) drug and it has antipyretic and analgesic properties along with its own specific action mode. Nimesulide is an analogue sulphonanilide and does not relate to conventional NSAIDs that normally have a hydroxyl or carboxyl functional group. Mesulid has been proved to be effective and safe in treating many painful and inflammatory conditions that include post- operative pain, primary dysmenorrhoea.

Nimesulide functions as a free radical. The products of the free radicals either directly or indirectly, cause damages of host tissues and maintain the process of inflammation. Nimesulide prevents this tissue damage by short circuiting the process of inflammation. Mesulid provides rapid and effective pain relief and also relieves the inflammatory signs and symptoms resulting from several disorders. The drug is very useful to users that do not show good response to other NSAIDs or those who are intolerant to NSAIDs because of hypersensitivity or because of gastric intolerance.

Directions for use

For children over the age of 14 and adults, a dosage of 100mg taken twice every day is recommended, preferably after having a meal and taken with a lot of fluids. It should be used for short-term treatment and even though the total period for which it used depends on the specific condition that it is treating it is normally between 3- 14 days. Short cycles are recommended for those with osteoarthritis.
