Dumirox is a widely prescribed drug used in treating depression as well as anxiety disorders like obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder (OCSD), Post Traumatic stress disorder and social phobia. In addition, the drug is used in treating adolescents and children with separation anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder or social phobia. Dumirox, whose active ingredient is fluvoxamine is categorized in the group of drugs called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). The drugs are believed to function by improving Serotonin’s activity in one’s brain.

You may need to take Dumirox for a number of weeks (a maximum of 8-10 weeks) before its full effect is felt or before you start feeling better. It is imperative that the medical practitioner monitor your progress regularly in order to modify the dosage as well as reduce the side effects.

In case, you forget to take a dose of Dumirox, skip it and resume the regular schedule. Two doses should not be taken at once.

Dumirox Side effects

While it has some beneficial effects, there may be some undesirable side effects. The most common side effects not necessitating medical attention include constipation, nausea, somnolence, decreased appetite, insomnia, dizziness, headaches, agitation and asthenia. The side effects disappear with continued consumption of the drug as the body gets used to it. However, consult qualified medical practitioners in case of persistent, bothersome or abnormal side effects. Some serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention include twitching, trouble urinating, trouble breathing, sexual problems and mental changes.
